Refinishing

If your existing wood floor has seen its better days Robar Hardwood Flooring can bring back the original appearance or change its colour entirely by sanding and re-finishing to your desired specification.

The process begins with assessing the damages and proceeding with necessary repairs. The floor is sanded until all the original finish is gone, wood filler is applied and floor is buffed until smooth. At this point the stain is applied or the natural wood colour is retained. Please see some of the stain samples we use, but keep in mind we can also custom match any colour. Finally, the floor is ready to receive finish of either polyurethane or water base coating.

A polyurethane wood floor finish is formulated for interior use on residential and commercial hardwood floors. It is slightly amber in colour, it enhances the natural tone of wood, while providing a tough, protective coat. It is available in gloss, semi-gloss and satin. Waterborne finishes are environmentally safe with low VOC's, meaning you don't have to necessarily vacate your home during refinishing. As the finish dries, water evaporates into the air leaving the protective polyurethane coating on the wood. Waterborne finishes are also non-yellowing and will not change colour over time. It is available in gloss, semi-gloss, satin and matt.

One of the most often raised question is about how much dust one can expect during sanding process. Please note because of nature of this work some dusting can be expected. However, our state of the art sanding equipment and extended efforts to protect your home ensures minimum dusting possible.
