Hardwood Floor Installation

Before any hardwood floor installation, or laying any hardwood floor it is recommended to let the material become acclimated to the conditions of the house. Ideally, the hardwood flooring should be ordered a few days in advance before the installation and spread in the room in which it is to be laid.

Robar Flooring provides hardwood flooring installation services for clients in Toronto, Mississauga and the GTA.

Hardwood Floor Refinishing

The hardwood floor refinishing process begins with assessing the damages and proceeding with necessary repairs. The floor is sanded until all the original finish is gone, wood filler is applied and floor is buffed until smooth. At this point the stain is applied or the natural wood colour is retained.

If your existing wood floor has seen its better days, Robar Flooring can bring back the original appearance or change its colour entirely by sanding and refinishing to your desired specification.

Samples of hardwood floor installation

There are many options and possibilities when it comes to hardwood flooring installation. Few of the most common types include plank, strip, parquet, engineered, laminated floors.

All of the above are either nailed or glued down on top of existing sub-floor. In condominiums or commercial properties where sub-floor consists of concrete, plywood is applied on top of the slab in order to allow for nailing of the floor. All glued down floors can be directly applied on top of the concrete. See diagrams below outlining different floor types, installation techniques as well as examples of transition and finishing trims commonly used.
